Item Description
Complete set of eight 11x14" lobby cards for the original release of the 1944 Universal Pictures Sherlock Holmes film, the eighth of 17 films starring Basil Rathbone as Sherlock and Nigel Bruce as Doctor Watson. Great title card has large Scarlet Claw at center and each card bears repeated design at left margin. Rathbone is pictured on all but one card, Bruce on all but two cards. Title card has .5" tear at top right margin. Card w/Rathbone and Bruce viewing corpse has 1.5" tear at top left margin w/tape repair on reverse and .25" tear at bottom. Card showing the pair w/barmaid has .25" edge chip to top center margin. Cards are free of pin holes and each has "Cinefantastique Enterprises" inkstamp on back corner, which does not show through onto front. Cards are evenly aged and Fine to VF overall. Rare as a complete set.
