Item Description
One of the most inventive Beatles products from 1964 was produced in England by Clevedon Confectionery Ltd. 5x10x2.5" deep display box has die-cut lid (which has been punched) w/band caricatures. Portrait images appear on right/left sides. Front panel lists six songs w/music notes - "Love Love Me Do, Can't Buy Me Love, She Loves You, A Taste Of Honey, There's A Place, Thank You Girl." This is an original box, not one of the reproductions that were produced later. Front left corner has 2.25" glue repair and 1" split. Back right corner has 1" split. Front side panel of box has scattered tape staining. Fine overall. Box originally contained 36 pieces of candy, sold for 10¢ apiece. Box comes w/three examples, each is designed like a record w/sleeve. All sleeves have the same design which includes band name and list the same songs as on box. Sleeves are 4.5x5" w/4" dia. licorice disc that looks like a small record. Each has a 3.5" paper "Record Label" w/photos. There were six each for the individual members and five featuring the full band. Offered here are records for John Lennon, Paul McCartney and the full band. Each has cellophane insert sheet that lays over the candy/labels. These have some cello deterioration but most remains as issued to protect contents. Typical and unavoidable trace of aging to the sleeves and labels but all remains complete and clean. Candy has hardened but is all intact, none broken. Fine/VF overall.
