Item Description
First is 2-5/8" long bronze luster badge with hanger reading "1917 Camp Meade/Admiral Md." Below an eagle and two soldiers are positioned above a portrait with text panel "We Will Follow Gen'l Pershing/To Make The World Safe For Democracy." Blank back except for name of maker I.M. Garfinkel, Columbus, Ohio." First we've seen. Second is 1.25" patriotic button with his portrait and name plus "Welcome Home." This is pinned to a card with typed inscription "New York City Wed. Sep. 10 1919/Badges Worn On This Day, Occasion Of The Welcoming Home Presented By Joe. H. Hart". Card has small crease at center right and a pair of pinholes but the only documentation we've ever seen for this button. Next is a 1-1/8" tall cardboard with front picturing him and text "Pershing Patriot/W.S.S." Stickpin present but not attached due to small top edge tear. Last is pinback reading "Pershing's War Memoirs Starts Jan. 12 In The News." Back paper by Lucke Badge and there is a .5" cello split but not at all evident from the front which displays Mint. This was a Baltimore issue from 1931 serializing his book which was published in April, 1931. Exc. to NM except as noted.
