Item Description
4.5x5.5x3.5" wide hand-formed/hand-painted heavy tin prototype features wonderful depiction of happy dog holding shopping bag in mouth on one side and performing circus monkey on other side. Great color and details. Underside has painted "Girard - 12-13-38" text, indicating this prototype was made in Girard, PA (one of Marx's three main factories) in 1938. Comes w/original key and four wooden wheels. Toy has strong interior wind-up motor and unique hand-made spring steel flipper component on underside. When wound toy travels about and rolls to one side, not making a complete flip. Scattered aging/wear, w/more wear to monkey side. Fine overall.
