Item Description
Each is 1.5". First features portrait of the African American candidate w/slogan below reading "On The Wallace Ticket Independent Progressive Party". Second is slogan button reading "Campbell To Congress" w/union bug at 6 o'clock that appears to read "Chicago" w/"5" at right. Both are Exc. displaying Mint. Rare. Wallace, a major proponent of racial equality, used his 1948 candidacy on the Progressive Party ticket to support a host of African American candidates across the country. Still few buttons must have been produced as these are two of the few we can recall encountering. Ron Koot Collection.
