Item Description
Pair of 4.75x17-3/8" artboards, each w/three panels of India ink original art by Barney Google creator Billy DeBeck. Strips are from April 29 and May 1, 1940 and both strips have been signed by DeBeck in last panel. King Features Syndicate copyright strips in either last and first panels. April art features Miss Duxy de Luxy waking late and her stereotypical African-American servant Willie Mae delivering letters, one from Snuffy Smith, who breaks off their relationship. Last panel shows Willie May screaming for help out the window, shouting that "Miss Duxy's Had A Nuhvous Breakdown!!" May strip continues story, showing Duxy in bed, her doctor telling the studio not to disturb her. Last panel shows studio heads arranging to bring Snuffy in so Duxy can smack him and get over it. Strip of aging at right of April artboard, but art remains clean and Exc. for both.
