Item Description
5x7.75" on lined paper. Butler writes to Capt. Ruffer "My Dear Ruffer, Hold On For A Few Days And I Think There May Be Such Delays In New York That I May Do You Some Service" and signed boldly at conclusion "Ben F Butler." Two horizontal mailing folds w/a .5" separation along bottom right that barely effects the last letter in the signature. Age toning at edges most notably at top right and bottom left and a brown stain at top just right of center from a paper clip. VG. w/signature remaining bold and clear.  Comes w/Hake's COA and JSA/LOA.
