Item Description
26x38" thin uncoated paper. Poster advertises a "Nirvana" concert at "Vooruit" in "Gent" Belgium on Nov. 23, 1991. Below date is text "Supp act Hole" w/image of the "Pretty On The Inside"album cover. Dominant graphic at bottom is an inversed image from the iconic anti-capitalist image on the cover of thecently relased album "Nevermind" w/the bands image featured at top left. At this point "Nevermind" and it's first single "Smells Like Teen Spirt" were gaining traction but it would be two months until the album peaked bumping Michael Jackson's album "Dangerous" from the top of the charts and confirming the cultural shift. Moderate handling wear most notably a 3" well flattened crease at bottom right corner. Exetremly Fine. Nirvana played only eight shows w/Hole during their career and this is the only concert poster featuring an image of both Kurt Cobain and his soon to be wife Courtney Love. Given the DIY mentality of grunge the majority of posters produced were 11x17" or smaller making this among the largest and most dynamic of potentially avalible pre-fame gig posters. A rare and historic artifact that captures the band on the launching pad of their metioric rise.
