Item Description
Lot of three 6x21.5" thin artboards w/India ink original art in by "Dickie Dare" artist Coulton Waugh. Art is for three consecutive days,  June 2-4, c. 1941-1944 and features three or four panels each. Art features Dickie Dare being captured by disfigured Nazi agent, who leads him to the deck of a sail ship, which is being approached by another ship towing an inflated dirigible. Last strip shows strong ropes being slipped under the sailing ship, w/the intention of it serving as a gondola. Last panel shows Nazi agent giving Nazi salute and shouting "Heil Hitler!" June 2 strip has cut out square w/Waugh's signature stat attached to back. Others are hand-lettered. Each strip has penciled title at tip right margin and World Wide Features strip. Artboards have lt. even aging and are VF overall w/clean art displaying Exc .Scarce to obtain three consecutive strips like this. Jan Wahl Collection.
