Item Description
Original box w/illustrated lid contains 7.5x10x11" tall mostly tin litho battery-operated toy. Marx, early 1960s. Lid features images of the house on all sides, along w/spooky images of moon, bats and skeleton. Box shows wear including scattered creases, slight inward warp to lid and edge/corner tip wear. One side panel has .75" spot of surface paper lift w/color touch-up and another side has a couple tiny spots of color touch-ups. Scattered tiny age spots, but still VG/Fine overall and nice for display. Toy is among the best designed battery toys of all time and is extremely detailed w/detailed lithography including weathered facade, cobwebs, bats, black cats, witch on broom inside window, etc. Toy features great array of actions, including jumping cat, light up window w/ghost, front door opens to reveal witch, window shade opens, house shakes, skeleton pops out of chimney, produces both "Spooky" and "Whistling Wind" sounds. All actions are controlled by levers on one side of base and all work perfectly. Extremely minor wear only noticeable upon close inspection. Overall a superb, working and Exc. example of the classic toy. Scarce as boxed.
