Item Description
19x39.25" w/remnant of original label on interior reading "Bristol, Conn." Wooden works, untested, w/original pendulum and weights. Door has diamond shaped piece of inlaid bone around the key hole and three glass panels. At bottom is a scene of a woman seated on a fainting chair and at top is a clear panel revealing the clock's face. The central panel features a beautiful equestrian portrait of Jackson in uniform w/sword drawn. A few dots of missing paint but overall in outstanding condition w/vivid color and exquisite detail. Political display items of this period are extremely rare and desirable. We've encountered three Jackson panels w/similar depictions and housed in similar c. 1830 mantel clocks but all were smaller and none featured a third panel. Those examples also displayed more pronounced defects than the current offering which we feel is the finest to come to market. A commanding 19th century artifact that will stand out in even the most advanced collections.
