Item Description
11.5x16.5" thin artboard has pen and ink original art for page 1 of "Batman" #434, published by DC Comics, June 1989. Page features four panels, w/large "The Many Deaths Of Batman" title between first and second panels ("Deaths" being hand-lettered while rest is pasted stat). First panel shows nighttime scene of the Paris skyline w/the Eiffel Tower in bkg. as Batman chases a mysterious cloaked figure across the rooftops. Batman is seen in last three panels, w/last panel featuring great action image of him running across roof. Art is by longtime 1970s and 1980s Batman artist Jim Aparo (1932-2005) w/inks by Mike DeCarlo. Top margin has stamped "Batman" title w/handwritten publication month, issue and page numbers as well as some editorial stamps/notes. Top left margin has handwritten "Paris Night" notation. Lower right margin has handwritten inscription that reads "To George F. - Best - Jim Aparo - 1989" in blue ink. Bottom margin has publishing indicia strip stat paste-over. Back has 1989 DC Comics copyright stamp. Artboard has small staple at upper left corner and some lt. aging. Art remains clean and Exc.
