Item Description
7/8" die-cut brass frame, obviously from same maker of items #118-119 holds raised brass center rim surrounding crystal clear portrait with name "Chase" above. Some loss of silver flashing that was once on the outer rim edge. There is a tiny emulsion dot missing beneath the letters "SE" barely visible without magnification. Under magnification, there is an additional less than 1/16" scratch on his forehead and a pair of pinpoint emulsion dots off - one below the letter "C" of his name and the other above the letter "E." All defects are very minor and just the speck missing below "SE" shows to the naked eye. Surface is extremely glossy and mirror-like. Chase was a 1868 Democratic hopeful and this piece is unlisted in both DeWitt and Hake. Extremely fine.
