Item Description
1.25" with superb color ocean and beach scene accented by word "Aloha". In 1902, the Hawaii Merchants Assoc. proposed tourist advertising. The next year, Governor Sanford Dole backed the Tourist Committee's request for funds and $15,000 was approved for what became the Hawaiian Promotion Committee. The name changed in 1919 to Hawaii Tourist Bureau. The text on this button's back paper reads "Compliments Of Hawaii Promotion Committee/Honolulu, Hawaii" so this button was produced (by Bastian Bros.) between 1903 and 1919. Scarce. NM displaying Mint.
