Item Description
6x9". Riis writes from the hospital answering a signature request in this letter dated "March 9, 1906" on his personal stationery. Signed at conclusion "Yours, Sincerely Jacob A Riis" in black fountain pen ink. Two horizontal and one vertical mailing folds. Losses at top right and remnants of scrap book mounting on reverse across top edge. Fine w/signature displaying Exc. Riis was an early innovator in the field of photojournalism and a friend of Teddy Roosevelt's. His most notable work, "How The Other Half Lives" documented the conditions of tenement housing in New York City in the late 1880s. Comes w/Hake's COA and JSA/LOA.
