31mm. Copper. DeWitt 1796-1. Obverse features Thomas Paine hanging from a gallows pole w/text above. Reverse has open book w/"The Wrongs Of Man", a satirical play on Paine's famed pamphlet 'Rights Of Man', at left and "Jan. Y. 21, 1793", the execution date of French King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette, at right. Likely cleaned at some point in its history. Virtually uncirculated w/crisp details. Exc. A pleasing example of this scarce medal w/the finest details we've encountered.
