Item Description
50mm ( 2") in highly lustrous white metal.  DeWitt's 1868-4 has no date on the obverse while this "A" variety is dated for Civil War's ending year 1865. Also, on reverse, DeWitt 1868-4 has tiny text "Pat. Applied For" whereas this "A" variety has "Quint / Phila." This is the second largest of the Grant 1868 campaign medals. A dot of luster off at center of an  1/8"  cloudy mark above the numerals "18" but this is a very minor flaw on an otherwise essentially mint example with proof-like surfaces.
