Item Description
35mm (1/3/8") white metal holed as made. Obv. with portrait and name plus initials of engraver. Rev. "Be Vigilant And Watchful That Internal Dissensions Destroy Not Your Prosperity". DeWitt notes the white metal version cost 25¢ at the time (or 50¢ for copper) and that the reverse slogan foreshadowing the Civil War five years later was repeated on a Lincoln medal in 1860. Much luster, almost no wear, reverse has slight trace of green tone on center but very minor. Exc.
