Item Description
"Superman: The Last God Of Krypton" was written by Walter Simonson w/art by The Brothers Hildebrandt and was published by DC Comics in 1999. In it, Superman discovers the existence of the evil Kryptonian Goddess of Ice - Cythonna - and proceeds to be beaten by the deity throughout the majority of the story. Offered here is 19.25x26.5" open frame containing the original art for page 36 of the story, which features large splash page w/three inset panels. Original art is all mixed media, showing the moment when the tide of the battle w/Cythonna turns in Superman's favor. First inset panel shows Cythonna w/her hand at Superman's throat while second panel shows him tossing her away while he leaps into flight in splash page w/Cythonna in close pursuit. Last inset panel shows Superman leading Cythonna into space as none other than Tim Hildebrandt as a news commentator (in one of the few paintings he appeared as a character), his breath condensating due to the coldness brought about by Cythonna. Both Greg and Tim Hildebrandt (1939-2006) have signed at lower right corner. Art is Exc. and ready for display as framed. A visually remarkable Superman piece.
