Item Description
8x12-1/8x1.25" deep box w/illustrated lid featuring Buck Rogers and Wilma Deering watching Dr. Huer perform experiment in laboratory. Box contains complete set by Gropper Mfg. Co. Inc. ©1937 John F. Dille Co. Three different size sets were made by this company, this is the smallest of the three. Lid has corner split and scattered edge/corner tip wear. 1.5" T-shaped line puncture to lid's main panel w/tape repair to underside. .5" spot of glue staining to lid's main panel. Box bottom shows obvious wear w/2.5" side panel piece missing and edge splits to three sides. Box is Good overall. Illustrated die-cut insert features Buck, Wilma, Dr. Huer and kids in laboratory w/rocketship at upper left. Insert is evenly aged and VF overall. Complete contents include set of four wood canisters w/paper labels w/image of Buck on fronts. Chemicals include "Aluminum Sulfate, Tannic Acid, Sodium Carbonate" and "Ferric Ammonium." Also has two corked and labeled glass tubes, one w/"Sodium Silicate," the other containing "Phenolphthalein." Set also includes aluminum spoon and stirring rod w/glass test tube. Lower left has aged paper packet of "Sodium Thiosulphate" w/packet of "Blue Litmus" at lower right. "Sodium Silicate" glass tube has some hairline fractures to glass but remains intact. All remains unused w/sealed labels. VF-Exc. Comes w/4x6" instruction folder w/eight pages. Aged and Fine overall. Quite elaborate w/wonderful graphics. Rare in any condition, let alone complete and unused.
