Item Description
22x28" thin cardboard w/"Louisville" union bug at bottom right. This 1960 campaign poster has a design that would make the hometown Louisville Slugger Corp. proud w/candidates set on a baseball diamond. The starting lineup: JFK on the pitchers mound w/LBJ at catcher; on first base is "Mortimer Viser" who lost his election for Judge of Jefferson Circuit Court; at second base is "Frank W. Burke" who represented the 3rd district of Kentucky which encompasses the majority of the Louisville metro area and was re-elected and at third base is former Kentucky Governor Keen Johnson who lost his bid to represent the Bluegrass state in the US Senate. Additional slogan "We The People Will Vote For This Team By Voting The Straight Democratic Ticket Tuesday, November 8, 1960." A less than .5" loss along top edge just right of center, two pin holes affecting the edges of portraits at 1st and 3rd, a less than .75" margin tear at center left and a pin hole affecting the "OV" in "November". Otherwise moderate handling including a crease at top left corner and age toning around edges. Fine. Given the thin cardboard and very limited local distribution it's unlikely that many of these survived in any condition. This is the only example of this rare JFK coattail we have encountered in 50 years.
