Item Description
6.25x18.5x5.25" wide cardboard box w/nicely illustrated lid contains 18" tin litho firetruck w/working friction drive w/siren and separate 5.75" tall tin litho Donald Duck as fireman figure. Line Mar, 1950s. Box shows obvious wear w/remnants of tape repairs and staple repairs to lid corners and concave warp to lid's main panel. Two corners have 1.25" and 1.5" edge splits w/heavy dust soiling due to tape remnants. .5x1.25" area of inking to lid. Box is VG overall. Box is scarce. Firetruck has tin litho dashboard w/gauges, plated grille/headlights and bumper. Truck has figural tin litho Pluto driver and Mickey Mouse as back platform rider. Sides have images of Mickey, Pluto and Dumbo as well as Goofy, Donald Duck's Nephew and Chip and Dale. Truck comes w/two ladders for battery-operated Donald Duck figure to climb (second ladder is often missing). Although battery box is clean, Donald no longer works as wire to battery box has hardened and has separation. We recommend Tin Toy Works of Allentown, PA for repairs, including a new wire if so desired. Donald is also missing a plastic hose nozzle that attached to his right hand. Bottom of figure has aging and figure also shows scattered paint nicks/scratches. Fine overall. Truck has some scattered lt. wear in the form of small paint nicks/scratches w/driver's side having .25" streak of bare metal showing. Plated front shows some aging. Mickey has original ears and Pluto's hat is present; these pieces are often missing. Fine/VF overall.
