11.25x17x2.5" deep box w/nicely illustrated lid contains Lionel Set No. 1536, © Walt Disney Enterprises, c. 1935. Box lid has tape repairs to two corner splits w/tape repair to small tear at another. Another tape repair to 2.5" side panel tear and .75" tear on same side panel. Box bottom has tape repair to 2.5" side panel tear and trace of staple rust. Lid has additional scattered light wear/aging. Still quite nice overall for display. VG/Fine. Box is complete w/die-cut insert that holds the pieces in place. This has moderate scattered wear and small scattered rust spots/stains. Train consists of 7" long wind-up painted metal engine, 4" long coal car w/attached painted composition Mickey Mouse figure (who holds painted tin shovel) and three different 6" long tin litho train cars. The engine's wind-up action works well - back wheels w/attached side rails revolve w/rod movement and bell rings. This is engine variety w/light on front, however, a special battery is required for operation, which are no longer produced. As such, we cannot test the light, but small lightbulb is still present. Engine comes w/original key. Engine shows some scattered paint wear w/more moderate wear to bottom front, which shows some bare metal. Coal car Mickey figure is jointed at waist and is designed to move up and down as if shoveling as the train travels around the track. Back is marked "Mickey Mouse Stoker." Tin car shows scattered paint wear on edges and where Mickey's shovel rests. The three train cars each have a different title and these are "Mickey Mouse Circus/Mickey Mouse Band/Circus Dining Car." All have scattered tiny traces of paint wear and trace oxidation to corners but o/w remain clean and feature great images. Engine and cars are Fine to Fine/VF overall. Set includes correct amount of eight sections of curved track and two sections of straight track. Set also comes w/5" tall painted composition figure of Mickey as a circus barker. This shows just some lt. scattered paint wear and is VF overall. As noted by sticker on insert that reads "Hey! Look For My Tent Under This Tray," set comes w/die-cut cardboard accessory pieces that include large circus tent w/separate pieces for flagpole, Disney characters as circus performers, gas station w/"Sunoco" pumps, Sunoco billboard, barrel truck, "To The Circus" piece featuring Mickey and Minnie Mouse and seven of ten 5¢ admission tickets. Scattered general wear from assembly w/varying degrees of aging to pieces. Circus tent top has small tear to one of the main tabs and is missing small side tab. Large one piece tent wall unit has separated at "Entrance" area. Right side has creases at top curtain area and tape residue. Left side has .25x1" surface paper loss and 1" surface paper lift w/tape residue on lift area. Above "Entrance" is Mickey Mouse image w/die-cut image w/die-cut ears but one is missing. The entire set shows general wear from use but remains Fine overall. A true classic for both collectors of Disneyana and train sets. Despite missing three tickets, still rare as nearly complete. Cars and Mickey Circus Barker figure are rarely found in this condition.
