Item Description
Pair of items issued by Australian newspaper "The Argus" in 1949. 7/8" dia. brass disc stickpin has recessed image of Superman along w/name of Australian newspaper "The Argus." Below this are the words "Superman Club." Issued by a Melbourne daily newspaper which published the "Superman" comic strip, which started in 1945 (though the club was active 1947-1949). Pin is original but has been reattached and has tiny bend but disc is Exc. w/bright luster and full accent paint. Scarce. 3.75x8.5" ink blotter w/full body Superman image. Issued by Argus as "A Super Blotter From Superman - Meet Him With Lots Of Other Exciting People In The Argus Super Comic" and goes on to mention Superman club. Blotter has two tiny spots of ink that bleed through slightly by Superman's knee, but o/w remains unused. Back has small spot of surface wear. VF overall. Rare and only the second we've seen in our 51 years. Franco Toscanini Collection.
