Item Description
17.5x22" on thin card stock. Poster advertises "The Fantabulous New York Rock Party" on "May 30-9PM" held at the "Manhattan Center" in New York. Design features 19 stars each w/portrait of a celebrity or punk/new wave figure below text "More Stars Than Their Are In Heaven!" Produced for a benefit concert after charges were brought against transgender artist Wayne County stemming from an altercation at a March 1976 concert where County broke the Dictators "Handsome Dick" Manitoba's collar bone after Manitoba heckled County w/homophobic taunts. The NY punk/new wave community organized this legal aide benefit featuring performances by "Blondie, Devine, Richard Hell, Johnny Thunders, Dee Dee Ramone, Suicide, Divine, The Dolls" and more. Poster notes "Door Prizes" that include memorabilia from "Aerosmith, David Bowie, Wayne County, Kiss, Iggy Pop, The Stooges, Ramones & More!!" Tiny loss at top right corner. Otherwise light age toning, corner tip wear and moderate handling. Fine. A scarce punk rock artifact that will frame beautifully.
