Item Description
Original illustrated box contains matched pair of 11.5" tall tin litho toys w/built-in key. Marx. ©1930 Correll - Gosden. Scarce box features great graphics w/crowded theater on front w/audience in balcony seating on left/right side panels w/simulated screen above orchestra featuring portraits of Freeman Gosden and Charles Correll as Amos and Andy, w/"Check & Double Check" tagline. Back panel has partial store price sticker and top flaps are replacements w/top having color copy attached to top flap while inner flaps are plain cardboard. Box has some moderate handling creases, more notable to back panel, but box retains strong color and still displays Fine overall. Toys were designed both w/and w/o moving eyes. These examples both have moving eyes. Toys work and upper body rocks side-to-side as they walk forward. Original arms swing freely at sides. Some scattered wear, most notable to Andy's jacket. Andy is missing cane, but replacement is readily available from Tin Toy Works in Allentown, PA. Amos is VF while Andy is Fine.
