Item Description
1.25" w/no back paper as issued. An elaborate 1928 design featuring the Statue Of Liberty and an eagle set against a cloud background w/draped American flags encompassing the candidate's portraits. Additional slogans are "My County 'Tis Of Thee" and "100%." Often associated w/the Ku Klux Klan, these slogans are a not so veiled swipe at Democratic nominee Al Smith's Catholic faith and were utilized to exploit the fear that the Catholic church would control Smith and thus the US. A pinpoint indentation in the cello. at the extreme bottom edge of the flag design just left of center that does not break the surface. At this area is a tiny dot of very faint discoloration that is visible upon close inspection and mentioned for extreme accuracy. Otherwise only typical light surface wear under magnification. Still Exc. Structurally perfect, retaining full gloss and displaying bold colors. The only other example we have offered in 51 years exceeded $13,000 in 2013.
