Item Description
1.75" button with large Theodore Roosevelt in Rough Rider uniform photo plus text "For Governor Theodore Roosevelt".  Curl carries 1898 copyright and back paper has small text naming maker Whitehead & Hoag along with larger text reading in full: "You Can't Stop Teddy's Luck./The Rabbit's Foot Charm./This Rabbit Was Killed At Midnight In The Dark Of The Moon, On The Grave Of A Cross-Eyed Spaniard, On San Juan Hill, Cuba."  Those buttons still retaining a foot are most often devoid of the fur. This example is not only a rare dyed color version but nearly all fur remains on the front and the reverse fur is about 60% complete. The button itself is essentially Mint and the back paper is Exc. with just a few small nicks on the outer edge. An outstanding example.
