Item Description
8.5" long pressed metal clicker gun featuring same Marx design as Dick Tracy model issued during the 1930s. This example has been hand-painted by a Marx factory artist, a different design on each side of the gun. 1940. One side has "Gang Busters" shield design behind the chamber and red/yellow/white color scheme while the other side features profile image of policeman w/"Crime Does Not Pay" slogan and painted Marx logo. This design is red/yellow/silver. These two designs were done to showcase two different gun designs w/o having to fully paint two separate prototypes. Underside of gun butt reads "Model No. 976 - Nfay...Dies - Girard 6-24-40" noting prototype was prepared at Marx's Girard, PA factory. Gun shows lt. wear, w/small spot of oxidation to top front of chamber on "Crime Does Not Pay" side. Despite this, still displays VF. One of a kind item for the toy gun collector.
