Item Description
2.25" tall. Top has a brass shell eagle w/stickpin and loop suspending an ornate brass shell frame w/mint luster. Ribbon design across the top reads "For President" and below is a five pointed star holding the circular brass shell accented with ribbon design that has tiny lettering "President" and "Vice Prest." The circular ferrotypes have candidate names above and read "Gen. U.S. Grant." and "Schuyler Colfax." Grant has only a pair of near microscopic 1/16" hairline marks on the background while Colfax has a 1/16" emulsion surface loss that removed color from his forehead. An exceptionally ornate, large and rare badge from 1868. VF.
