Item Description
1.5" bronze medal. Hanger reads "Massachusetts Minute Men 1861". Reverse with extensive text about Mass. volunteers answering Lincoln's call for troops to defend Washington. It was these troops who took the first casualties of the Civil War at the hands of a mob as they passed through Baltimore. The medals were authorized in 1902 with 3,805 struck. The edge of this one reads "Adolph F. Lindberg, Corpl. G. 8th. Reg." Rare, unique and NM displaying Mint. The last of 4 different collected over a lifetime.
