Item Description
5-3/8x6-3/8" mount w/4x5" photograph. Our research dates this to Roosevelt's visit to the city on July 17, 1900. The building in the background is the McGill-Warner Co., a book binder, and the uniforms on the policemen visible on either side of the carriage match the c. 1900 St. Paul Police.   Roosevelt visited St. Paul speaking at the Commercial Club and attending the League Of Republican Clubs convention at the St. Paul Auditorium. He attended other public and private events during his stay including a dinner at the Minnesota Club and staying at the Ryan Hotel. Remnants of scrap book mounting along r/l edges on reverse. Otherwise only moderate edge wear to mount. Emulsion has a few tiny wrinkles at top left but displays beautifully. Overall VF. A scarce image that we can not recall encountering.
