Item Description
8.75" square box holds 10" dia. by 11" tall tin litho top. Lackawanna Mfg. Co. Inc. and produced for distribution by Geo. Borgfeldt Corp. 1930s. Box has same image of the top repeated on all four side panels. Both top flaps have penciling, one w/1934 ink stamp date. Box shows obvious wear and one side panel has four corner splits in lengths of 2", 2.5", 3" and 5" w/tape repairs. Three other corners have small 1" split w/tape repairs. Bottom panel has pair of tape strips holding flaps shut. Good/VG overall. Top of the top features great character images of Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Pluto, Three Little Pigs and Big Bad Wolf along w/their names. This is the largest and nicest of three different size musical tops w/red background produced by Lackawanna, this the only example to include the Three Pigs and Big Bad Wolf. Bottom half is solid blue w/production text. When wood-tipped handle is extended and pushed, top spins, producing musical sound. Top has just the tiniest traces of wear but remains exceptionally bright and glossy w/vibrant color and full silver luster to top. Exc. and the nicest example of any 1930s tops we've seen, Box is very rare.
