Item Description
First is 7/8" button with a brass rim, real photo (artistically altered and without dot screen) and no maker's name. Kruger was President of the South African Republic 1883-1900 and button was issued c. 1899-1900 during the Second Boer War. Kruger is shown as a pirate with headband, eye patch, "x" shaped cut marks and blood drops on his face, captioned below, "What Ho! Kruger." First seen. Other three are 7/8" all with W&H papers or embossed tin back. Roberts led the British forces in the Second Boer War, Col. Otter was Canadian and commanded The Royal Canadian Regiment of Infantry in S.A. White led the British forces in the colony of Natal and became famous during the siege of Ladysmith Garrison 1899-1900. Last two with small age traces. Fine. First two NM displaying Mint.
