Item Description
7/8" w/union back stamp. In 1918 after a speech in Canton, OH, where he urged people to resist the draft for World War I, the Socialist and labor leader was arrested and charged w/ten counts of sedition. Despite his internment he ran for President on the Socialist Party ticket in 1920. This is the rarest of the buttons that utilizes Debs' portrait in front of a cell at the Atlanta Federal Penitentiary where he served. Scattered light scratches only visible in reflected light.
