Item Description
27.25x41" for the original release of the 1938 Universal 15 chapter serial starring Buster Crabbe as Flash Gordon, Jean Rogers as Dale Arden and Charles Middleton as Emperor Ming. Based on the "Flash Gordon" comic strip, it is the second of three Flash Gordon serials made between 1936 and 1940. This is for Chapter 9, "Symbol Of Death" and features wonderful collage design, w/photo image of Flash escaping from being chained to chair and another photo portrait of Dale at upper right. Rest of poster is nicely done art, including rocketship at top and villain operating ray device at center. Originally folded, poster has been linen-mounted w/some color touch-ups along fold creases and at fold crease intersections. Margins have been completely repainted w/exception of tiny text along bottom margin. Corners of image area have some touch-ups/restoration to pin holes, but o/w poster displays VF as linen-mounted. All posters for this serial are rare and we have sold only one other example in our 51 years. This is the only known example of a one sheet for this chapter. Very rare.
