Item Description
3.25x7x3.25" deep cardboard box w/illustrated lid label contains two-piece celluloid toy attached to wheeled painted tin platforms. Made in Japan by Kuramochi, 1930s. Box shows obvious aging/wear w/crease to box bottom and heavy dust soiling to lid. Box retains its shape and is VG/Fine overall. Mary stands 6.5" tall (on wheeled base) and has one arm jointed at shoulder. Underside of dress has small paper label. Built-in key in Mary's base. Lamb measures 2-5/8x3-3/8" long w/separate bobbing head and satin ribbon. Lamb is attached by string to Mary's hand and wind-up mechanism works well, Mary traveling in circles pulling lamb. Concentric axle on lamb's platform causes bobbing head to move up and down. Small dent to back of Mary's bonnet, but o/w celluloid remains free of cracks/dents. Mary's arm has been restrung. Some scattered aging to wheels, but VF/Exc. overall.
