Item Description
Large and impressive 55.5x78.25" export poster for the 1913 Vitagraph drama directed by Harry Lambart and starring Rose Tapley (one of cinema's first leading ladies) as a virtuous heroine that rescues the daughter of her rival from certain death by drowning in Niagara Falls. Upper left has French, German and Italian text that translates to "In The Waves Of Niagara." Great lithography features artwork of Tapley on the shore, about to dive into the raging water as crowd of onlookers watch and pray. Upper right has insert image of Tapley in the water w/the rescued girl in tow. Issued in two halves and originally folded, poster has been linen-mounted and has had little to no restoration or touch-ups performed. Pin holes across top/bottom margins. Moderate aging along fold lines and poster has even aging overall. Displays Fine as linen-mounted w/strong color.
