Item Description
Large 14.5x18" sheet of artpaper has all lead pencil original art created by legendary Fantasy/Sci-Fi and comic book artist Greg Hildebrandt in Nov. 2010 as a spoof of popular men's magazines of the 1950s and 1960s, many of which featured lurid covers and sensationalized headlines on their covers. Art for "Raw For Real Men" magazine features stoic bare-chested soldier tied to post topped w/his helmet and human skulls as he is circled by four bare-breasted native women (all of whom have had their modesty protected by strategically placed floral leis or necklaces). A fifth women lounges in the foreground above text block w/"I Was Tortured And Raped By A Naked, All Female Native Tribe!" headline. Additional headlines at top read "The Government Is Creating A Secret Race Of Atomic Supermen - Is It Patriotic To Be Pacifist? - Hollywood Is Controlling Our Minds - 'Reefer Madness' Is Invading The Military." All headlines have been hand-lettered. Wonderful satire of mid-century exploitation themes. Hildebrandt has signed at lower left. Back of sheet has partial preliminary pencil sketch of two women.
