Item Description
11x17" Marvel Comics artboard has pen and ink original art as well as a series of four acetate overlays for cover to "Avengers" #293, published by Marvel in July 1988. Artboard has pen and ink original art by John Buscema that has been inked by Tom Palmer. Art depicts full body images of Avengers Namor the Sub-Mariner, Dr. Druid, Thor, Photon, Black Knight and She-Hulk fleeing from the immense Leviathan, a mutated form of Alpha Flight Marrina (who was Namor's wife at one point). Leviathan is depicted in ink and screentone accents on three of the four overlays, fourth (top) being trimmed and having Marvel publishing indicia and "The Avengers" title paste-overs. Bottom margin of artboard has inked title and issue number as well as Buscema and Palmer's names. Artboard has some aging at margins from tape used to secure printer marks to acetate sheets, Art has aged somewhat but o/w remains clean and VF.
