Item Description
15.5" tall composition doll depicting Judy Garland as she appeared in her starring role as Dorothy in MGM's classic film "The Wizard Of Oz." Ideal, 1939. Doll is marked "Ideal Doll Made In U.S.A." on head and "Ideal 16" on back. Has five piece composition body and socket composition head. Brown sleep eyes, real lashes, painted lashes, feathered brows, open mouth w/five teeth, brunette human hair wig w/original braids and blue ribbons. Doll wears all original clothes including signature blue and white checked gingham dress, undergarments, socks and dark blue leatherette shoes. 1.5x2" oval string tag secured around wrist as issued; one side features image of "The Strawman" white the other shows "Judy Garland As Dorothy In The Wizard Of Oz." Doll is in wonderfully preserved condition w/beautiful complexion. All composition is perfect w/the exception of two 1" stresslines at base of Dorothy's neck, but these are easily obscured w/dress collar. Dress shows overall lt. aging, most evident in whites of sleeves and collar. Aside from these minor issues the doll is Exc. overall and would become a focal point of any Oz or celebrity doll collection.
