Item Description
7.5x11.75" artboard comes taped to 12x16" double-mat and features pen and ink original art that also utilizes clipped photo images pasted within art showing American jazz pianist and composer Erroll Garner (1923-1977), known for his swing playing and ballads. Abstract art shows Garner at the keyboard and has hand-lettered "Erroll Garner At Storyville" text at lower left. 1950s. Storyville was a Boston, MA nightclub and jazz music venue opened in 1950 which attracted musicians like Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, Charlie Parker, Lennie Tristano and Dave Brubeck who performed there regularly. Pasted photo portions show moderate aging as glued to board, which is evenly aged. Mats also show some aging. Fine overall.
