Item Description
Die-cut 12-3/8x21.5" standee w/easel back is one of two sizes produced, this larger of the two. Standee bears 1929 KFS copyright, but dates to the 1930s. Standee features full body image of Popeye, a soda bottle in each hand, each w/labels bearing "Popeye" name and image of sailboat. Text at top reads "Drink Popeye" w/text at bottom reading "I Yam What I Yam And I Yam Tops." Bottom left has .5x1.5" corner of surface paper off and lower right shows some wear. Scattered edge wear, including .75" tear at upper right. Fine overall. Rare and first we've offered (this image was used on a non-vintage metal sign that was rectangular in shape and not a legitimate release), and we have never seen an example of this product's bottle. An exceptional piece for both Popeye and soda collectors.
