Item Description
Pair of frames contain box and assembled Saalfield Superman puzzle, which were produced in both 300 and 500-piece varieties. This is Saalfield No. 1561, "Superman Saves A Life," depicting Superman stopping steam shovel from falling in hole (from the cover of "Action Comics" #22). ©1940 Superman Inc. 14x16.75x3.75" deep shadow box frame contains box w/illustrated lid showing puzzle scene as well as listing names of the other three puzzles in the series. Box shows moderate wear w/4.5" edge split along upper right and corner tip wear w/corner creases. Box is VG overall, but displays nicely as framed. 21.75x25.75" frame contains complete puzzle w/overall assembled size of 16x20". Puzzle pieces show scattered aging/wear w/approx. two dozen pieces having creases that break surface paper and minor scattered surface paper loss. Fine overall but as w/box, displays nicely as professionally framed.
