Item Description
In 1949, Shelby made both a girl's and boy's Donald Duck bicycle which were produced for just one year. These are among the nicest of all character-related bicycles and are highly sought after. Offered here is a complete store display, featuring a professionally restored to concours condition. Bike is 64" long by 34" tall boy's model w/vintage tires. Detailed w/"Shelby Donald Duck" decals featuring full body image of Donald on each side of the tank and three-dimensional Donald head attached to the front. Designed w/light-up eyes and produces a "Quack" sound in place of a horn. These battery operated functions are not operational.  Incredible impressive and highest quality. Comes w/specifically produced for Shelby 51.5" tall animated jointed die-cut cardboard figure of Donald as if he is riding bicycle. Reverse side is blank and has typed instruction sheet attached to back. Wooden block rests where seat would be (bicycle does not come w/seat) and has wooden dowel running through it to connect to seat shaft to allow movement of Donald's legs, one of which is connected to separate cardboard panel of back of Donald's head via metal rod. This allows for Donald's eyes to move up/down, visible through die-cut eye holes. Entire Donald display was designed to move as if riding bike by use of a small motor w/shaft (not included, easy to replace if desired) attached to back wheel. One ankle/foot has had metal bracing added, not affecting display. Figure has a few creases and one arm has had professional repair at wrist. Top of Donald's hat (which has "Shelby" printed hatband) has some creases, but figure still displays VF. This display figure is rare and the first we've seen in our 51 years. Bicycle has lt. wear to handlebars where Donald's die-cut hand and metal clasp for other hand connected, but o/w bicycle remains bright, glossy and Exc. Rare and impressive store display comes w/custom metal display stand. Due to size and/or weight of this item, shipping charges may be substantial. Please contact us w/any shipping inquiries prior to close of auction.
