Item Description
Third and final of three versions of this toy, this model was issued in 1963. 12.75" tall and most noticeably different from the other versions as body is gold. Body is mostly tin litho w/pair of plastic ear attachments and plastic cover on face through which a control room is visible (including pair of small plastic men which give the appearance of the robot's eyes). Recessed chest area below "Mr. Mercury" nameplate on chest has tin litho circuit panel. Back of body has separate small tin plate w/Marx logo. Attached hard plastic remote control battery box unit has a number of melt marks. Toy is designed w/four separate functions - robot walks forward, raises/lowers arms, open/closes arms and bends at waist. All functions work. The foam inserts on inside of hands are replacements. Body shows some small scattered paint nicks and scratches but overall no serious defects. Still a Fine example of this classic robot.
