Item Description
Large 2-1/8" button, one of three related designs, issued for a Shrine convention in Troy, NY c. 1900. On this one a blindfolded initiate in a nightshirt hangs onto the halter of a laughing camel who wears a fez and the sponsoring company's (International Shirt & Collar Co.) collar which is accented by Shrine symbols on a purple ribbon. Ornate back paper names maker W&H as well as the shirt/collar maker. This version is about five times scarcer than version with initiate in blind fold and grasping a rope as he awaits the initiation ritual. Exc. displaying Mint. Rare.
