Item Description
1.75" c. 1900 with wonderful graphic portrait of youngster exposing his missing teeth with a smile between exaggerated ears. Portrait strongly suggests MAD Magazine's Alfred E. Neuman of later generations. One of only six examples we've handled in our 52 years. None of the examples has had a back paper and there is no maker's name. This example has scattered air marks under the cello against the dark blue background and the yellow color is a tiny bit off register on some of the letters. The main defect is tan stain on the left side of the face with some even tan tone over the left side of his collar. Colors remain deep and intense and the button has outstanding gloss. An overall Fine and still extremely attractive example of one of the most desirable product buttons ever made.
