Item Description
Unlike the Macy's pre-printed form letters, this is of a personal nature typed to a specific recipient. This two-page letter is dated Dec. 20, 1940 and is issued to Josef Kleinkauf from Deborah Knapp in reference to "Mayor La Guardia Visit." Letter inquires "If It Would Be Possible To Provide The Mayor And Five Children A 'Private' Performance Of The Superman Adventure." Letter goes on to give Knapp's idea to squeeze in New York City Mayor Fiorello H. La Guardia (who served 1934-1945) during busy Saturday performance by omitting portion of one show. Letterhead design includes full figure image of Superman at tops right while at bottoms have "S" symbol along w/"Superman Inc, - Journal American - WOR Radio 710" participating sponsors. Unfolded and NM. One of the few of these typed letters we have seen that is more than one page in length. Franco Toscanini Collection.
