Item Description
13-5/8x20.5" artboard has pen and ink original art for page 5 of "Sgt. Fury And His Howling Commandos" #9, published by Marvel Aug. 1964. Page features six panels w/art by Dick Ayers and inks by George Roussos. Art shows Captain Sawyer and Sgt. Nick Fury receiving military brass, who asks where the man command requested was. A muddied Fury is shocked to learn he's that man. Third and fourth panels shows The Howling Commandos readying themselves for mission, w/Dum-Dum Dugan leading the way. Fury enters and is surprised to find his men lined up and ready for action. Other Commandos shown include - Gabriel Jones, Rebel Ralston, Izzy Cohen, Dino Manelli and Percival Pinkerton. Top margin has "Sgt. Fury" title as well as issue/page numbers in red grease pencil as well as grease pencil notation along right margin. Lower right has "Continued Next Page" paste-over stat attached w/tape. Scattered handling wear and some margin staining. Back of artboard has scattered moderate staining, not affecting front's display. Artboard is Fine overall w/VF/Exc. art.
